Carbon Dioxide Laser

Best suited for: warts, moles, skin tags

The Co2 laser is an ablative laser which helps in improving the appearance of scars & wrinkles and to remove benign skin rout by ensuring minimal discomfort & rapid recovery. Carbon dioxide lasers work by sending out a highly concentrated beam to vaporize affected tissue, and has been shown to be effective on patients after just one procedure. The Co2 laser unites an invisible impaired beam which is absorbed by wart-containing tissue & skin vaporization.
The procedure is performed in a highly sterile environment by the doctor. A local anesthesia is applied to the area to reduce pain. The CO2 laser is used a scalpel to cut the skin in a circular fashion around the wart, and then the base of the wart is vaporized.
The doctor will advise you on the post-operative care depending on the area being treated. You will need to keep the area clean and bandaged while it heals. The doctor may prescribe some medications and ointments to heal the treated area as well as manage any pain or discomfort. You must follow all post-operative care instructions including limiting movement and friction on the area, as well as avoiding swimming and gyms. The wound forms a scab as it heals, which should never be disturbed and allowed to fall off on its own.
This procedure is indicated for:

  • Verruca Vulgar
  • Mosaic Wart
  • Periungual wart
  • Plantar Wart
  • Genital Wart

During your consultation the doctor will assess the nature of lesion or wart and ask you your medical history. Certain medical conditions, illnesses or infection and medications are contraindicated with this procedure. Depending on the treatment area, you may need to rest for up to a week (eg. in case of sites like the feet). Otherwise, there is little downtime, and besides caring for the treated area, you can return to your daily activities.
