Photofacial

Best suited for: age posts, freckles, hyper-pigmentation, light scars, broken capillaries, uneven skin texture, rosacea.
A photofacial is a procedure that uses light-based technology to stimulate deeper tissues of the skin, which boosts collagen production, and improves skin appearance.
During this procedure an Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) device emits a range of light waves that are then tuned and targeted at hemoglobin (the red blood cells in the blood vessels) or melanin (the brown pigment in freckles and age spots). The light beam passes through the skin and is absorbed by either hemoglobin or melanin resulting in damage to the vessel wall or fragmenting of melanin pigment. These tiny vessels and the melanin pigment are then absorbed by the body, rendering them less visible.
This procedure simultaneously removes damaged & photo-aged skin while stimulating collagen growth. It improves skin colour, consistency & texture all at once. IPL Photofacial causes very little discomfort & no downtime. The procedure is non-ablative which leads to easy recovery & low risk associated, allowing patients to carry on with their normal routine work immediately. A series of 3 to 5 treatments conducted at intervals of 1 month lead to the best results.
Potential risks include minimal burning and changes in skin’s pigmentation which soon disappears. This treatment is not recommended for people with dark skin tones or pregnant women. The most important thing to remember after a Photofacial is to avoid sun for initial few days, and apply a good SPF Sunscreen liberally for at least two weeks after the Session.
